A flavour of the inaugural pilgrimage
Inauguration of oxford - over worton - deddington newMan pilgrimage
june 22ND and 23rd 2013
Below you will find a timetable for the inaugural pilgrimage.
To walk the whole route over two days is reasonably demanding (around 40 miles, though the terrain is not itself difficult) and should you wish to be part of the pilgrimage only for a while, the information below may help you to decide when and where to join.
A short period of prayer, where nothing else is specified, will generally be held at each of the churches we visit.
Should you wish to join us for the whole route, please bear in mind the advisability of wearing proper walking boots and having rainwear – and a change of clothes – packed. Please also bring lunch for both days. The evening meal on Saturday will be at a pub in Church Hanborough, for which participants need to pay, and on Sunday evening refreshments will be provided at Over Worton and Deddington. Saturday night will be spent at the Guesthouse of the Community of St Clare in Freeland, where breakfast on Sunday will also be available. A donation is requested by the Sisters.
The Guest Sister at Freeland needs to know how many will be staying on the Saturday; numbers are limited. Please be in touch via this website or direct to [email protected] should you want to stay at Freeland, to have a meal at Church Hanborough on the Saturday evening or if you require transport back to Oxford, or perhaps elsewhere, on the Sunday night. Should you wish, we could arrange accommodation in a hotel or guest house for you on Sunday in Deddington, subject to availability.
An hourly bus service, Stagecoach S4 operates on weekdays from Deddington, going to Oxford or Banbury.
